“I define connection as the energy that exists between people when they feel seen, heard, and valued; when they can give and receive without judgment; and when they derive sustenance and strength from the relationship.”~ Brené Brown
When I think about the quantity of time so many of us spend in front of our smartphones, tablets, laptops, constantly scrolling over the screen to check what’s new on the news feed, who tweeted what and who follows who…it makes me feel exhausted and drained of energy. Why? Because instead of taking better care of ourselves and creating meaningful connections between each other, we sometimes seem to be growing apart from one another. We don’t really make friends by standing at our desks and sending friend requests
. We meet real people by going out and being present, by being aware of the people we come into contact with and appreciating them for everything they bring into our lives.
We can’t really spend quality time with ourselves or with the people we love and care about, when it seems like there is always something that needs to be shared, some pic, status or comment to be liked or replied etc. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying there’s something wrong with this kind of practices but we tend to spend more time in the virtual world than in the real one and this is affecting more and more of us on a long term.
I have a challenge for you. How about, from time to time, once a week or once a month, you leave your gadgets at home and get away from it all. Why not try to disconnect in order to reconnect with yourself? Would it be so hard for you to do it?
This beautiful video shows how each and every one of us can actually disconnect in order to reconnect with our higher selves, our true selves, and enjoy every single moment of a beautiful day and the gifts that it may bring, without always having to share and tweet everything that happens to you. It kind of makes you want to leave your phone at home just to see how it may feel, you’ll see.
With all my love,
